National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Washington, DC
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial was dedicated in 1991 in Judiciary Square, Washington, D.C. by the first President George Bush. It honors all of America’s federal, state and local law enforcers. Inscribed on the Memorial’s blue-gray marble walls are the names of more than 17,000 officers who have been killed in the line of duty, dating back to the first known death in 1792.

September 11 Grove in Washington, DC, on Kingman Island
The September 11 Memorial Grove has some of the slickest websites of the various memorials. The concept commemorates the events of September 11, 2001 and the city’s efforts to restore the natural beauty of the Anacostia River and revitalize the surrounding neighborhood by celebrating nature, inviting and rewarding exploration and promoting efforts to create and maintain a healthy environment. The design engages the wetland as part of the experience of the island by creating a path that weaves through several distinct natural settings, ultimately connecting to the island’s greater pathway system. It is to be completed by 2006.
