Hutchinson, Kansas 911 Memorial

Hutchinson, Kansas, Fireighters Local reports Hutchinson received a Four Foot Section of “I- beam” from the World Trade Center disaster. It was placed in our public works building until a permanent memorial could be built. Brothers and Sisters of Local 179 felt the temporary housing would show greater respect if it was in our control. IAFF Local 179 brother Jamie Carol, spearheaded a committee to have it moved to Station 1. This task was completed in time for our 2003 9/11-memorial service, during the service it was unveiled at it’s temporary memorial site.
