McCourt 911 Memorial Garden in New London, Connecticut

The McCourt Memorial Garden on the Connecticut College Campus near the Lyman Allyn Museum in New London honors Ruth and four-year old Juliana McCourt were aboard the United Airline flight that struck the World Trade Center. Ruth’s brother was one of the people who worked in the World Trade Center, he escaped that day. However, Ruth and Juliana were flying to L.A. to meet a friend who was on another flight, American Flight 11, which crashed into the other tower.

Danbury Glass 911 Memorial Sits on Connecticut Granite

Danbury’s 911 Memorial consists of a 12-foot glass tower sits on a Connecticut granite pentagon base, surrounded by lights to illuminate it at night. Etched in the 12-foot tower will be the names of all Connecticut’s deceased, while names of Danbury’s deceased will be prominently displayed in the center of the tower. It was dedicated in September 2004. It is located at South Elmwood Park on Main Street in Danbury.

911 Living Memorial at Sherwood Point

Connecticut’s 911 Memorial is a black cherry tree at Sherwood Point in Sherwood Island State Park and is one of the first completed memorials. It was dedicated on September 5, 2002, and commemorates the 149 Connecticut residents.
