Forest Service 911 Living Memorials Map
The Forest Service funded living memorials (e.g., trees/plants) at more than 100 places across the United States. It’s a great resource to identify memorials. However you should be advised that not all memorials list in their database appear to be active memorials.

Other Lists of 911 Memorials

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

I started 911memorials.org because I thought somebody should try to chronical the various memorials and I saw no web site undertaking that. The outpouring was amazing after 911. This is admittedly a taunting task so there’s no formal road map on how to do this. Do you just include memorials with artifacts? Memorials with budgets in excess of a certain amount? Temporary memorials? My list is based more or less on the intention for the memorial to be permanent. It’s a very daunting task and I probably miss some sites. If you would like include a memorial or have pictures of a memorial or know of a website, drop me a line. I’ve had to turn off comments on this blog because it was getting hundreds of spam messages a day.

Voicesofsept11.org also is making the attempt. It is worth a visit also.
