Middlesex 911 Memorial at South Amboy

The Middlesex County 911 Memorial is located in Raritan Bay Waterfront Park0 in South Amboy.

This memorial — built into a hill overlooking the Raritan Bay — features a courtyard 40 feet in diameter that is made of earth-toned brick pavers. A circular retaining wall with benches along the inside surrounds the courtyard. An ornamental arbor provides filtered shade to visitors.

The focal point of this memorial is a four foot high bronze eagle statue, which overlooks the Raritan toward the former World Trade Center site. A two foot granite monument serves as the base for the eagle. The following quote from Daniel Webster is engraved on the base:

“May our country itself become a vast and splendid monument, not of
oppression and terror, but of wisdom, of peace and of liberty, upon which
the world may gaze with admiration forever.”
