Howell High School 911 Memorial
Howell has three 9/11 Memorials -the Memorial at Howell High School located at 405 Squankum-Yellowbrook Road (dedicated 2002), the Memorial at the Squankum Firehouse located on Route 547 (dedicated last year) and the Memorial at the Howell Municipal Center located at 251 Preventorium Road (dedicated this past September).
The Memorial at the Municipal Center includes a pedestal that contains a piece of the World Trade Center. One of the marble tiles at the Municipal Center Memorial depicts the Memorial at the Firehouse. Squankum is a section of Howell Township.
The tile with the Firehouse Memorial is how we learned that there was more than one 9/11 Memorial in Howell. Locating these three Memorials took multiple phone calls, three seperate trips and many hours of traveling the backroads of Monmouth County.
