Forsyth, Georgia, 911 Memorial Public Safety Building

The Fosyth County Fire Department has a 15-by-25-inch piece of WTC at its Cumming, Georgia, public safety building on Settingdown Road in Cumming, Georgia.

“The biggest thing to them [FDNY] is that people from all walks of life get to touch it,” Lt. Brian Gary, a fourth generation NYC firefighter who is now with the Forsyth County Fire Department said.

The steel was part of what was cut to give NYC firefighter families.

When the Forsyth County Public Safety Center opens this spring, the memorial will be the first thing visitors see when they enter. The steel may be set in Georgia marble with a bronze plaque explaining its origin.
