Fresh Kills Memorial Has Earthworks the Length of Trade Center

Fresh Kills Staten Island World Trade Center Memorial
The memorial planned for the Staten Island Fresh Kills site where World Trade Center debris was sorted is perhaps even more controversial than the Manhattan site as family members have argued over remains that are there. The winning design in a contest was Field Operations of New York and Philadelphia. The design calls for a meadow on an earth works at the crest of a hill (the landfill was closed just before the hill exceeded the New York City physical highpoint of 420 feet at Todt Hill on Staten Island — which in itself is the highest point on the Altantic Coast south of Maine). The design will have an almost crop circles appearance.
