Other Manhattan Memorials
There are several 911 Memorials in Manhattan. I am in the process of updating them.
There is the Firefighters Prayer memorial which was donated to New York by Missouri firefighters (it was at JFK Airport on 911 en route to what was to have been its home in Missouri). It is suposedly at 8th Avenue and 44th Street outside the Milford Plaza Hotel but I am not 100% certain if that is current.
There is the Fritz Koening Sphere in Battery Park. The Sphere was the centerpiece sculpture of the courtyard of the World Trade Center. Residents generally considered it pretty ugly and uninspired. However after the collapse which pierced sections of it, it took a life of its own. It is perhaps the most tangible remnant of the WTC. Everybody thought it was going to be placed at the Memorial Site and it has been a scandal that it has been removed. An eternal flame burns at its base.
In February 2005 a memorial was dedicated at Ground Zero commemorating a small chunk of the original monument to the 1997 attack.
There are many more including monuments at various fire stations which I will try to chronicle.
